Medicine Buddha Tibetan Thangka

Availability: In stock

Hand painted and detailed with gold and framed in a traditional multi-color Tibetan brocade. Highly regarded profession in the old Tibet, Thangka painting craft is fast becoming a lost craft. Thangkas can serve as beautiful wall decor while purifying the energies around the house or office.

The thangka depicts Medicine Buddha in his customary posture, right hand extended with palm outward over his right knee in the gesture of "supreme generosity" while holding the Myrobalan plant, important healing herb in Ayurveda medicine. The plant is believed to not only heal the body but also free one from the ills of attachment, hatred, and ignorance. He holds the traditional begging bowl of ordained Buddhist monk which contains medicinal nectar that cures all mental and physical ills, and obstacles.
